ABOUT US

Hello!

We are CombineReality, and we’re here to help.

AR will inevitably change the very nature of human existence, much as the smartphone has. Therefore, we believe that it’s critical that we all have a hand in shaping it. However, it’s still hard to get your hands on AR hardware that allows you to begin working with the virtual fabric, from which this new kind of existence—and the human interactions that will characterize it—will be sewn.

By producing Augmented Reality headsets based on community-driven & open-source design, we aim to make advanced AR technology more accessible.

In 2018, Leap Motion introduced Project North Star as an open-source, 3D-printable AR headset system with an unprecedented degree of fluid, natural, intuitive interaction; and the optical system could be built at a cost of around US$100. The issue, though, is that building this system at such a cost was beyond the capabilities of almost any member of the maker/DIY or research communities.

So, for the past 2 years, we’ve been sourcing, manufacturing, engineering, and 3D-printing Project North Star parts and/or headsets to make it possible for as many people as possible to keep building and developing their Project North Star works. Our latest 3D-printed headset is the Deck X: a modified version of the Project North Star v3.2, with a custom-built hub system and programmable buttons.

We are currently preparing to launch an injection molded version of the headset on Kickstarter. Your support would mean a lot to us, and would allow us to do more for the community!
